I was in a bad accident about two weeks ago, nothing compared to what you endured, but still very scary. Reading your story I can't help but wonder if I would have handled paralysis as gracefully as you have seemed to, and I do not think I would have. I hope you continue writing, and thank you for sharing your life with us!Abshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14440912840794746891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6918696276300451971.post-36457352424241595392014-02-28T04:42:07.254-08:002014-02-28T04:42:07.254-08:00It is about what we can handle and we have the cou...It is about what we can handle and we have the courage for. What an amazing JOURNEY this has been. I taught a class on Friday night and met a woman who spent 3 months at Shepherd Ctr. Sh was a partial L3/4 and was told she would never walk again, she walked right into that class like nothing had every happened to her! AND she told me that she used to visit a woman who painted using her mouth. I am so glad you learned Dragon, even though it stinks, it's giving you such an amazing freedom to share your gift, writing. My mother has vertigo from time to time as well and I feel the "sip and puff" technology could be a great use for other individuals. Not saying its uses are meant for everyone but I feel that a similar type of technology may be helpful. Who knows, maybe even one day someone will be able to invent a mobile device that is more efficient then what we have now. Technology is growing everyday and there is room and opportunities to help people with specific needs. Further more, I thoroughly enjoyed this blog and how a little impact can elevate someone's life so much. Helping them achieve things now that they could never do before and should be commended with a high praise.

Yours truly,
Andrew SampsonAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10272905790860982609noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6918696276300451971.post-82279736878930443102013-09-09T18:08:33.621-07:002013-09-09T18:08:33.621-07:00"I chose to expect. I can only imagine if something like this were to happen to a loved one of mine, how amazing it would be to hear their voice for the first time. Being limited to lip reading must be such a hardship, but everyone involved was able to get through it, and in turn was rewarded with hearing your voice after 6 weeks.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02776588370601212762noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6918696276300451971.post-33264538145187840422013-08-20T09:12:31.758-07:002013-08-20T09:12:31.758-07:00Never say "never" because you never know...Never say "never" because you never know. You are the epitome of strength and courage, and I'm sure you will inspire many to keep living, whatever it takes. Last year I went through a serious illness that I'm still recovering from - I know what it's like to fight to breathe and to not be able to even turn over in bed without help, and to have to learn to walk - and swallow! - all over again - and so I can understand maybe the teeny-tiniest part of your ordeal. There were times, in rehab, when I would lie in bed watching people walk, run, skip down the hall and think: "How can they just do that without even thinking abut it?" Well, it took several months of therapy, but finally I was so thankful to be able to walk on my own two feet again, and it is something I will never take for granted again. I wish you all the best in your continuing saga; it's people like you who buoy up all the rest of us!
